To blog or not to blog; that has been my question for the past few years. As a victim of self-doubt, both in my writing ability and in having anything important to say, I have avoided and procrastinated. But, due to a blogging Challenge initiated by one of my online writer’s groups, here I am writing a blog post.
Currently, I am working on four projects. The first is finding a publisher for my children’s book, Gigi’s Glasses. This book shares the story of a relationship between a grandmother and her grandchild. It is a sweet story about how a grandmother sees the child’s scribbles on her wall as a masterpiece and his chocolate handprints on her furniture as those lining the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The child does not understand what makes her see differently and assumes it must be her glasses. Are her glasses magical? At the end of the story, the child learns the truth. This story won third place in the Blue Mountain Christian Writers Conference Foundation Awards in 2020.
I have also completed my second children’s book, Pawpaw’s Ears. This story shares the misconceptions of a grandfather due to wearing hearing aids. This story was inspired by my father, who always made conversations and situations quite interesting due to his hearing challenges. The story includes eight crazy hound dogs and a Gigi who is quite annoyed with Pawpaw’s misunderstandings and their consequences. I am excited about presenting this to a publisher as well.
My third project is a young adult fiction novel titled, The Memoir of Lucas P. Scott. Lucas has had a rough fourteen years. Through life’s experiences which include the loss of his father; his mother’s admission to a rehabilitation center for a drug issue; the loss of his grandparents; living with his aunt and uncle; and other normal milestones in every teen’s life, Lucas finds the purpose of each experience and learns that God is always with him. This story won third place in the Blue Mountain Christian Writers Conference Foundation Awards in 2024.
Finally, my fourth endeavor is this blog. I titled it Grace in Every Moment because God is good and present in every moment of every day. By allowing my writing to place in writing contests, God has given me grace, which has given me confidence and desire to write more. I am eager to see where He takes me in my writing journey.
So, to read or not to read? That is your question.
